Alice MacKenzie (b.1994, Canada) is an artist based out of Vancouver, Canada whose multidisciplinary work centers around an interrogation of representational art through a neurodivergent lens with an emphasis on process and learning. Her current work aims to examine her autistic identity and the ambiguity of self within the context of “masking” via self portraiture.

By producing conceptual and process-based work alongside creating more decorative, functional or “craft” work, she makes space not only for her ever-changing practice, but also for her work to be accessible for different audiences within a range of contexts.

She has studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Vancouver, BC, as well as completed courses at The Visual Arts Center, Montreal, QC, but considers herself to be largely self-taught.

Alice co-founded BAD ART, a radical approach to creative and accessible art outreach in 2021 with Tereza Tacic, and has been working within the Vancouver community as well as through social media platforms to share knowledge, resources and creative education.

Her work has been shown, shared and traded mainly within Vancouver but can also be found in numerous private collections across Canada, the United States and Europe.
